Villager jailed after shooting at woman’s home, hires attorney, enters plea in case

A Villager who was reportedly infatuated and intoxicated when he fired 33 rounds into his neighbor’s house earlier this month, has entered a plea in the case.

Howard Sparber, 69, is accused of firing his Sig Sauer 9mm semi-automatic handgun June 20 at the home of a woman on whom he had developed “a crush,” according to a statement he provided that night to law enforcement. You can read more about the night of the incident HERE.

This week in Sumter County Court, Sparber entered a plea of not guilty in the case.

The plea was entered on his behalf by criminal defense attorney Pakiza Sajid of the Joshi Law Firm.

Sparber remains jailed without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Sparber, who is married, had previously tried to lure the woman into a hot tub at his home and persistently made sexual advances, according to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He had also previously displayed his gun to the woman.
