A 50-year-old Villager was jailed after he allegedly walked out of a buffet restaurant Friday without paying for his lunch.

Lawrence Donald Anderson, who lives on West Schwartz Boulevard on the Historic Side of The Villages, went into Golden Corral on County Road 466 at about noon Friday and consumed a buffet meal, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He left the restaurant without paying for his $8.79 meal, the arrest report indicated.

The restaurant manager followed Anderson out into the parking lot and sheriff’s deputies were summoned.

Anderson allegedly tried to give a phony name to a deputy.

He was arrested on charges of fraud, giving a false name to a law enforcement and a probation violation.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
