Villager jailed without bond after altercation during night of drinking
Scott Wolfe

A Village of Rio Grande man was jailed without bond after allegedly hitting his girlfriend after a night of drinking.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called to the man’s home on San Pedro Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A woman told deputies that Scott David Wolfe, 53, had hit her with an open hand, according to the arrest report.

Wolfe told deputies that he and the woman had been drinking throughout the night and had gotten into a verbal altercation after the woman had driven his pickup truck around the block.

The woman told deputies that she lives with Wolfe off and on because she has nowhere else to live, according to the arrest report.

She also told deputies that Wolfe had told her, “It’s not hitting a woman if you do it with an open hand,” the arrest report stated.

Sumter EMS was called to the scene, but the woman refused treatment.

Wolfe was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and transported to the Sumter County Detention Center.
