Villager speaks out about amenity usage by renters at Lofts of Brownwood

A Villager is speaking out against the use of amenities by future residents at the Lofts of Brownwood.

The Lofts of Brownwood, which are under construction, will include 265 age-restricted apartment-style units.

News that the renters will have access to amenities in The Villages has raised some eyebrows.

Frank Marshall of the Village of Osceola Hills spoke out on the topic Thursday afternoon before the Community Development District 10 Board of Supervisors.

“How can they receive amenities without being property owners?” Marshall asked.

Ground was broken earlier this year for the Lofts of Brownwood.

Marshall claimed he had examined documentation supplied by the District Office and he said he has concluded that the Developer does not have the right to extend amenities to non-property owners.

“Do we want more people in The Villages who don’t own property?” Marshall asked.

CDD 10 Supervisor J.R. Rebecky jumped in with a question of his own.

“Will they be issued a resident ID card?” he asked.

The discussion was quickly stifled as the topic is outside the jurisdiction of CDD 10.

Marshall was told he might want to take up the topic with the Developer.
