Villager taken to TVRH after nearly hyperventilating over parking

A Villager was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital after nearly hyperventilating over a parking situation on the Historic Side of The Villages.

Mary Margaret McGee, 56, of 1661 W. Schwartz Blvd., will also have to appear in Lake County Court next week to answer to a charge of misuse of 911.

She had become enraged on the afternoon of June 14 when a moving truck parked in front of her home, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. In response, she pulled her car out of the driveway and parked her Toyota Camry parallel to the Atlas 18-wheeler, blocking all traffic on the street.

She called 911.

When police arrived, 10 vehicles, including a UPS truck, were backed up due to the road being blocked. She told police she was tired of her neighbor having trucks parked in the road the past few weeks.

Police asked McGee to move her car, but instead she responded with an expletive. The police officer called his sergeant to the scene when McGee continued to refuse to cooperate.

Meanwhile, the truck driver moved his vehicle so traffic could get through on Schwartz Boulevard.

When the sergeant placed handcuffs on McGee and advised her she was under arrest for misuse of 911, she complained that she recently had surgery on her wrists and that the handcuffs were painful. The officer then placed two pair of handcuffs together to lessen the strain on her wrists. She then complained she was hot and the air conditioning in the patrol car was turned on high.  After nearly hyperventilating, Lake EMS was called to the scene and McGee was taken to the hospital.

She was issued a notice to appear and is due in court on Wednesday.
