Villagers donate $4,000 to assist charter school’s music program

Villages musicians donated $4,000 Wednesday night to help their younger musical counterparts at the Villages Charter School.

The announcement capped off the Band Extravaganza Concert at the Villages High School. A huge crowd was in attendance for the event.

The concert featured The Villages Concert Band, the New Horizons Band, VCMS Advanced Band and Jazz Band and the VHS Concert Band and Percussion Choir.

In all, 300 musicians, of all ages, performed at the event.

The concert opened with the combined bands performing the Star Spangled Banner.

March has been officially designated by the National Associate for Music Education  for the observance of Music in Our School (MIOSM.) This is the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.
