Villagers who drink and drive in golf carts leaving evidence along multi-modal paths

Do Villagers drink and drive in their golf carts?

The evidence found along the multi-modal paths in The Villages suggests they do.

Community Development District 3 supervisors reflected on this problem earlier this week.

The supervisors are concerned about the Villagers who casually toss out their empty containers along the golf cart paths.

“People tend to think, it’s OK. It will get picked up. It’s a terrible attitude,” said Supervisor Gail Lazenby.

The trash is regularly collected by landscaping crews who pick up everything from palm fronds to beer cans.

CDD 3 Chairman Bill Ray noted that “small alcohol bottles” are frequently found along the golf cart paths and in the tunnels.

“I guess you have to ask, ‘What do we do?’” Ray said. “We’ve got people who just don’t care.”
