Villagers for Trump staging patriotic golf cart parade on eve of DeSantis rally

It’s going to be a big weekend for the members of Villagers for Trump.

On Friday, the group is hosting a GOP Golf Cart parade. All Republicans and conservatives who support the president are invited to attend the event, which features a route through both Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs Town Square – much like a similar rally held in August.

Sue Cianci, head of the Villagers for Trump Action committee, leads the way through Lake Sumter Landing in the ‘Red Wave’ golf cart during an August parade.

And on Saturday, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Ron DeSantis will speak at a rally at La Hacienda Center. The former congressman, who has been endorsed by President Trump and Villagers for Trump, was supposed to visit Florida’s Friendliest Hometown this past weekend but he canceled his appearance to be in the Panhandle area to offer assistance to victims who were devastated by Hurricane Michael.

GOP gubernatorial hopeful Ron DeSantis speaks during a July campaign stop at a Villagers for Trump rally.

Those attending the golf cart parade are encouraged to be at the Barnes & Noble parking lot in Lake Sumter Landing by 4:30 p.m. The parade will start 30 minutes later and travel through Lake Sumter Landing to Spanish Springs and back to the bookstore parking lot.

Those participating in the parade are asked to decorate their carts with political signs, flags, banners and patriotic colors. And Villagers for Trump members are being asked to wear their club shirts or clothing that’s red, white and blue.

“Our goal is to have fun and let people know that the ‘Red Wave’ is coming,” a Villagers for Trump flier states, adding that those who don’t have golf carts but want to participate are encouraged to attend as well.

At Saturday’s rally, DeSantis will discuss his vision for the Sunshine State. And he will be joined by Rep. Jeanette Nuñez, who is running for lieutenant governor.

Doors for the event open at 1 p.m., with the rally lasting until about 2:30 p.m. Those wishing to register for the event should visit:

Residents who are unable to RSVP via Eventbrite may be able to register at the event pending capacity. Previous tickets are not valid, so those wishing to see DeSantis must sign up using the new link above.

Due to special security, large bags, homemade banners and signs, firearms and large recording/audio devices will not be allowed into the recreation center.

Saturday’s visit will mark DeSantis’ second to The Villages – a community that clearly supported him in the Aug. 28 primary election – in recent months. In July, he attended a packed-house Villagers for Trump rally on the eve of an appearance in Tampa with the president. And last month, his wife, Casey, attended a Republican Federated Women meeting with GOP Attorney General candidate Ashley Moody.
