Thousands of Villagers filed into Lake Sumter Landing to watch the second tree-lighting ceremony of the holiday season.
Watch video of last night’s tree-lighting ceremony:
The streets and sidewalks were lined with Villagers for hours, and Blue Stone Circle kept attendees dancing right up until the lighting.
Dave and Judy Quattrone of the Latrobe Villas were two of dozens of Villagers who took to the dance floor in anticipation of the lighting.
The night was emceed by Billie Thatcher, who led the audience through the traditional Christmas slate that has become a familiar refrain at tree-lightings in The Villages.
The Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps gave an exciting performance and topped it off with some fire-twirling.
Twirlers captain Ann Pelle was on hand again to flip the switch, her second lighting of the season and eleventh consecutive year at the switch helm.
The third and final tree-lighting ceremony will be held on Friday at Brownwood Paddock Square. The festivities will kick off at 4:00 p.m. with the tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. Tune in for our live broadcast!
