It will be all things art at the Eisenhower Recreation Center on Saturday, Oct. 28. For the first time the Villages Art League will be holding their Fall Art Showcase at Eisenhower.
“We have eighty artists exhibiting this time, that is most we have had for any show,” said Betty Eich,”we are using every room at the Eisenhower.”
The Villages Art League likes to offer something different at every showcase. This year in addition to a new location, several artists will be doing demonstrations during the show. Attendees will be able to watch the artists while they work and ask questions.
Among the artists doing demos are Sandy Simpson, watercolor, Roger Sherman, drawing and acrylic, and Mary McKimmey, sculpture and pottery. Photographer Diane Pattie will be available to discuss the process of photography on metal.
Artists at the showcase represent a wide variety of media including oil, pastels, watercolor, silk, colored pencil, pen and ink, photography, glass, Chinese calligraphy, fabric, jewelry, painted china, clay sculpture, acrylics and pottery. Working in stained glass in metal will be Earl Forsyth.
All items are for sale.
“This is a great chance to get original art,” said Eich. “If you want art that will add interest to your home and is one-of-a-kind, this is the place to come.”
The showcase will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is open to the public and admission is free. The Eisenhower Recreation Center is located at 3560 Buena Vista Blvd. For additional information about the showcase call (352) 259-3813.
