Villages DAR Chapter announces first-ever essay contest

The Villages DAR Chapter, John Bartram, is sponsoring its first annual Christopher Columbus Essay Contest for grades 9-12.  Florida students at public, private, parochial or home schools are invited to compete for the chapter’s $100 prize.  The winner’s essay will be submitted to the Florida State DAR Competition and eligible for further awards.  Essays titled “Joining Christopher Columbus on His Voyage to the New World”  (800-1,200 words) needed by Oct. 13, Columbus Day.  For more information, contact  Jeanne Albrecht at 55ks420@embarqmail.com or 352-259-3754.
