The month of August has seen Villages Girl Scout Alumnae Silver Trefoils hard at work planning for the sixth annual Pajama & Book Drive. The kickoff date of Oct. 1 means red collection boxes in every Village Recreation Centers’ lobby waiting to be filled with new pajamas and new books for the 5,000-plus homeless children from infancy through high school.
Take advantage of current low, low prices in stores. Use cash coupons for some great buys. This drive takes on special importance as the Villagers are the sole providers of new pajamas and new books for the homeless children in our tri-county area of Sumter, Lake, and Marion.
“Now’s the time to get on board and go shopping with gusto. These pajamas and books will become cherished Christmas presents – the only ones they’ll ever receive,” said Villager Mikki Blumberg, founder of the effort.
