The Villages is hoping to build a golf cart shop and service center at the current site of a Citizens First Bank drive-through on Avenida Central.
The golf cart shop would include a 2,102-square-foot building addition, a two-lane golf cart fueling area, landscaping upgrades, and dumpster enclosure.
The lobby at Avenida Central closed in October 2013. The drive-through facility has remained open.
Recently, The Villages was denied permission to build a drive-through behind the Citizens First Bank location on Main Street in Spanish Springs. In unanimously denying the request, commissioners cited concerns about traffic and tree removal. During the process, Citizens First Bank Steve Kurtz said the bank planned to close the Avenida Central branch once a drive-through opened at Spanish Springs.
A presentation on the plan for Avenida Central site will be presented to the Lady Lake Commission at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lady Lake Town Hall.
