A Villager who works as a massage therapist was being held on $21,000 bond after she allegedly kicked a deputy in the groin at The Villages Regional Hospital.

Susan Marie Cervo, 61, who resides on Allendale Loop in the Village of Amelia, was arrested Friday morning on charges of battery, criminal mischief and burglary.

She reportedly had been in the hospital parking lot when she demanded another woman hand over her cell phone. The woman refused and retreated to her car to get away from Cervo. She locked the doors and called 911, but Cervo began banging on the trunk, bent the license plate and tore off the side-view mirror and windshield wipers.

When a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy showed up, Cervo allegedly kicked the deputy in the groin.

She was arrested and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.

Cervo appears to have no prior criminal history but earlier this month in Sumter County Court had filed a petition for protection against dating violence involving a man.

She bought her home in The Villages in 2006.
