Villages-News.com stepping up effort to heighten discourse in ‘Comments’ section

In our ongoing effort to ensure the authenticity of those using our “Comments” section and to heighten the level of discourse, Villages-News.com is now tying comments to users through social media. From now on, new users wanting to comment will be able to sign in through their choice of social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google or Microsoft (Live) among others. This will only effect new users signing up from this day forward. If you have previously left a comment, you will still be able to sign in using your old username and password.

To leave a comment, at the top of any story click on the “Leave a Comment” link under the title. You will be taken to the bottom of the page, where you will be able to “Log In” and leave a comment. After you select “Log In”, simply select the icon for the social media website you would like to use to sign in. Remember, if you have previously issued a comment, you may sign in using your old username and password. If you receive a message indicating that your username  is not registered, try using a separate username. Your username is not necessarily your email address (some might use their first and last name, etc.). If you have not registered previously, you will have to register a username through social media (we do not accept email addresses on their own).

In addition, stricter moderation of comments will be taking place.

If you experience any issues or confusion throughout this process, please feel free to email us at news@villages-news.com.
