The Villages is preparing to seal off a landowner with whom there has been a long-running feud.
The Developer’s battle with Ron Brown in 2013 prompted the week-long erection of “The Wall” which blocked Villagers from a dirt trail that provides golf cart access to the Wal-Mart in Summerfield and other businesses. The Wall also dealt a direct blow to landowner Ron Brown as the then-under-construction HarborChase assisted living facility was billing itself as golf-cart accessible to The Villages. You can read more about that The Wall HERE.
In 2014, Brown’s attorney waged a spirited battle to win golf cart access through The Villages for his client via Bowersox Drive on the Historic Side. Brown complained that his personal property adjacent to The Villages was being landlocked. You can read more about that battle and the outcome HERE
Now, The Villages is preparing to seal off Brown once and for all.
In a quiet maneuver Monday evening, The Villages sought the blessing of the Lady Lake Planning & Zoning Board to reconfigure the lot off Bowersox Drive and Schwartz Boulevard through which Brown had sought golf cart access. The plan is to tear down two adjacent 1980s-era manufactured homes and then construct three new site-built homes on the two lots. The lot, which has stood vacant for years, would have been Brown’s access point.
The plan will need the approval of the Lady Lake Commission.
