Villages Regional Hospital nurse arrested on drunk driving charge

A registered nurse at The Villages Regional Hospital was arrested early Wednesday morning on a charge of driving under the influence.

Leona Mae Fleming, 57, of Lady Lake, had been driving a SUV shortly after 1 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when she was pulled over by a Lady Lake police officer.

He suspected she had been drinking. She failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples registering .128 and .130 blood alcohol content.

She admitted to the officer that she and a friend had consumed two pitchers of beer, according to the arrest report.

She was booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
