The Villages Theater Company’s production of “Play On” will debut at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at the Mulberry Grove Recreation Center. Shows will also take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 through Monday, Jan. 30.
The play is being directed by Villager George DelMonte.
This is a story of a theater company’s attempt to produce Phyllis Montague’s original script, Murder Most Foul, an Edwardian murder mystery, in spite of maddening interference from a haughty authoress who keeps revising the script. It is a play – within – a – play. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does. When the authoress decides to give a speech on the state of the modern theater during the curtain , the audience is treated to a madcap climax.
Those planning to attend are cautioned that strobe lights will be used toward the end of the play.
Tickets are available at all Villages Box Office locations.
