Attorneys donate to judge’s campaign for position on bench in Sumter County

Attorneys have been making contributions to a judge’s campaign for a position on the bench in Sumter County.

Judge Paul Militello was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott in 2016 to succeed retiring Sumter County Judge Thomas Skidmore. This fall, Militello’s name will appear on the ballot as he seeks election to the judgeship.

Militello opened his campaign account in January with a $6,500 contribution from himself.

Since then, he has received contributions from several attorneys:

• Felix Adams PA of Bushnell on Feb. 19 donated $250.

• Attorney Paul Guilfoil of Ocala on Feb. 19 donated $100.

• Julian Harrison PA of Bushnell on Feb. 21 donated $200.

• Attorney Christine Bird of Ocala on Feb. 23 donated $250.

Well-known Lake County defense attorney Cary Rada, a judicial candidate two years ago, on Feb. 22 donated $500.

• Avonelle Mackerell PA of Dunnellon on March 13 donated $100.

• Clayton Ellis PA of Ocala on March 16 donated $250.

• Ted Hollander & Associates PA of West Palm Beach on March 5 donated $500.

• The Keith Taylor Law Group of Lecanto on March 5 donated $1,000.

• James Richard PA of Ocala on March 5 donated $100.

• Attorney Ashley Aulls of Brooksville on March 5 donated $100.

• The Washo Law Firm of Tavares on March 10 donated two tickets to the Lake Sumter Children’s Advocacy Center Bids 4 Kid event. The tickets were valued at $250.

• P. Bobby Rumalla PA of Ocala, a firm that represented a Lady Lake orthopedic surgeon nabbed in a 2016 prostitution sting, on March 16 donated $250.

Militello’s campaign reported several expenses related to the Sumter County Fair, including $120 for a booth rental and $37.50 for candy. His campaign also paid an Illinois company $593.88 for hand sanitizers for the fair.
