Cigar-smoking Village of Fenney man arrested on drunk driving charge

Steven Stein

A Village of Fenney resident who was arrested on a drunk driving charge was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

Steven Edward Stein, 60, of 2794 Atamasco Lily Loop, was driving a vehicle with only one taillight Wednesday night on Main Street in Leesburg when he was pulled over by law enforcement.

Stein was smoking a cigar when approached by a police officer, “likely to mask the odor of alcoholic beverages,” according to the arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. When Stein attempted to get out of the car, he was staggering and leaned on the car door for support. He struggled through field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .127 and .128 blood alcohol content.

Stein had .5 grams of marijuana in his pocket and was found to be in possession of a pipe for smoking marijuana.

The Peoria, Ill. native told the officer he had consumed six beers and that prior to drinking he had one “hit” of marijuana, the report indicated.

He was arrested on charge of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $3,000 bond.
