The Streetrod Club donated $8,000 to Special Kids Inc. Friday evening.

The donation was announced during the 10th Streetroad Club Cruise In at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.

Receiving the donation were Billy and Marian Kraft, long known as Santa and Mrs. Claus in The Villages.

Billy Kraft teared up when he thanked the group for the donation and talked about the work of Special Kids Inc.

Special Kids Inc. serves  special needs children from Marion, Lake and Sumter counties includes those with learning disabilities, physical handicaps, autism and other issues.

The Special Kids Inc. events at the Villages Polo Fields have included pizza, clowns, games and, of course, golf cart rides through the years.

Club members had their carts on display all around the square. There was a strong turnout despite the chilly weather.

There were bundled up and walking the square, enjoying the Streetrod carts.

“These are something else,” Dave Cowtan said. “I have to get me one of these.”
