After Advantage Golf Cars store manager Stacy Riddick learned that Lois Dreher-LaPoe had her cart stolen from her driveway, it was only a matter of hours before the golf cart shop stepped to the plate to offer help.

“We wanted to give back to the community. We felt bad for [Lois],” said Riddick of the company’s desire to get involved.

On Thursday, Advantage Golf Cars transported Dreher-LaPoe’s golf cart to their facilities in Palm Ridge Plaza an began mechanical work to outfit it with all the appropriate equipment to run again. The damage included missing batteries, and wires and cables completely severed and missing.

“We’re going to replace all the batteries and all the cables for her and put a couple brake shoes on it,” Riddick said.

Riddick indicated that after finding out about the stolen golf cart on Saturday afternoon, the company was interested in helping her as soon as possible and started reaching out to her early this week.

Earlier this week, Kling Towing hauled the golf cart to Dreher-LaPoe’s home. The golf cart had been impounded by the Lady Lake Police Department after it was discovered abandoned Friday on Silver Lake Executive Golf Course.
