Benny Mercer

Benny Gene Mercer, 81, of Oxford, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020.

Mr. Mercer was born June 6, 1939 in Alma, GA to Arvin Mercer and Inez (Raulerson) Mercer. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Benny moved here in 1973 from Jacksonville and worked as a heavy equipment operator until he retired.

Survivors include his children, John Mercer and his wife, Barbara of Williston, FL, Susan Mercer Hoffman of Moss Bluff, FL, Larry Helms and his wife, Misty Marie of Enterprise, AL, Pamella Hutto and her husband, Kenneth of Arlington, TX and Angie Alvey and her husband, Rick of Brandon, FL; siblings, Shirley Smart, Betty Jo Miller, Jimmy Mercer, Sue Huffer, Troy L Mercer, Dianne King and Glenda J Mercer; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Benny was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annie Ruth Smith Mercer on August 23, 2007; his son, Terry Mercer and his siblings, James Franklin Mercer and Minnie Alga Mercer.

Benny’s family will celebrate his life privately in the future.
