Lyman David Holder, 86, passed away in Jacksonville, FL, July 17, 2022, following heart surgery and subsequent complications.

He was born in Schenectady, NY, to Lyman F. Holder and Christina Holder. He attended school in Burnt Hills, NY, then graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steven.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Sarah, his daughters Jennifer of Groveland, MA, and Heidi of Medford, MA, their spouses, his brother Philip and wife Patricia of Ballston Lake, NY, and his sister Susan of Indianapolis, IN. He was a sincere and caring husband, father, brother, teammate, and friend.

His lifetime work was in the chemical industry, and he started up and managed factories for Monsanto, American Cyanamid, WR Grace, and Chomerics.

Dave’s passion was nature and all its wonders and creatures. His favorite hobby was growing beautiful flowers alongside bountiful vegetable gardens.

After moving from New Hampshire in 2013, Dave enjoyed the active lifestyle of The Villages. He loved playing Division 5 softball, golfed with wonderful friends and neighbors, and bicycled frequently. Sarah and Dave explored many different countries in their travels, and he led a full life.

He will be buried in Ipswich, MA, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider contributing to a local humane society.
