An anonymous tipster provided the name of a suspect captured on video during a recent crime spree in Bison Valley, leading to his arrest.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded on the morning of June 12 to Bison Valley, a family subdivision near The Villages Charter School, where a car and gun had been stolen and a Lady Lake Police Department patrol car had been burglarized. A Smith & Wesson Body Guard .380-caliber weapon had been taken from a 2018 blue Ford F-150. In addition, a 2010 silver Ford Edge was stolen from Bison Valley. That car was later ditched at Immanuel Baptist Church at 8015 SE 180th Street in Marion County, with the driver reportedly fleeing on foot.
Multiple blood stains were left at the scene and it is believed the suspect cut himself while breaking a window of the patrol car. And an estimated $32,600 damage was done to the Bison Valley mailboxes, prompting an arson investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The sheriff’s office later released images captured on video surveillance of the suspect.
The release of a surveillance video prompted a tip June 22 from a woman who wished to remain anonymous. A deputy went to the home of 19-year-old Andrew Rigel Lariviere at 12310 NE 48th Way in the Villages of Parkwood, however, he denied any involvement in the Bison Valley crime spree. The deputy noted that Lariviere looked like the suspect in the video and had injuries to his right arm and knuckles, consistent with the damage to the burglarized Lady Lake police patrol car.
A relative confirmed to deputies that the suspect captured on video surveillance appeared to be Lariviere.
He turned himself in on Monday at the Sumter County Detention Center.
The Rhode Island native is facing multiple charges of burglary, grand theft, vehicle theft and arson. He was released after posting $7,000 bond.
