Vira Evelyn De Fries, 99, of The Villages, FL, went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2017. Vira was the daughter of Leslie and Edith Hanchett. Born in Clyde Kansas, Vira was an only child. Vira graduated from Clyde High School and then went on to obtain a teachers certificate. Vira was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. Vira is survived by her children, Don, Patty and Richard and her step-son Bill; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Vira was a homemaker for most of her life. Vira moved many times during her life courtesy of the United States Air Force. She lived throughout the United States and spent 3 years in Lima, Peru. After Bill retired from the Air Force, California became home for 20 years. Early in the 90’s, Bill and Vira moved to The Villages and were active in several clubs as well as their church. Vira loved dancing. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and making candy. Vira also liked playing the organ.
Visitation and Service
Services will be held at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 North Highway 27/441, Lady Lake, Florida 32159 at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
