Virginia Military Institute band to march in St. Patrick’s Day Parade in The Villages

The Virginia Military Institute band will be making a special appearance in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in The Villages.

The VMI band will be performing at an alumni event in The Villages later that same day. When the band learned that there would be a parade that same day, a representative from the VMI band reached out to the Villages Recreation Department.

The annual parade, organized and staged by the Resident Parade Committee with help from the Recreation Department, will step off at 3:15 p.m. Friday, March 17 in Spanish Springs Town Square. The start time has been bumped up by 15 minutes to accommodate the large number of entrants.

Nearly 400 decorated golf carts will be appearing in the parade.

The parade will also featured Villages favorites including the Villages Twirlers & Drum Corps, the Villages Parrot Head Club, the Yesteryear Kart Club, the Hangar Flyers Club, The Villages Cheerleaders and others.

Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks with the parade. If you can help, email Resident Parade Committee member Jean Gallagher at jgallagher809@gmail.com
