Walter ‘Walt’ Stark Troope

Walter and his wife, Rosemarie (O’Donnell), were married on September 14, 1957 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Walter retired as Vice President of Cluett Peabody in Troy, New York in 1987 after a long and successful career as a Mechanical Engineer. He holds several patents related to his work while at Cluett Peabody. He traveled the world for his job and loved to talk about all of the exotic places he had traveled. Walter and Rosemarie raised their family in Latham, New York before retiring initially to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Walter and Rosemarie retired to Lady Lake, Florida, in 1990 from South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Shortly after moving to The Villages, Florida, Walter started a golf touring group called “Troope’s Tour”, which he ran for over 20 years offering golfers an opportunity to play courses outside of The Villages. Walter is predeceased by his sister, Mariam Adams; daughter, Janet; and son, Steven. He leaves memories to be cherished by his wife, Rosemarie of Lady Lake, Florida; his eldest daughter Anne Wolcott and her husband, Jeff, of Summerville, South Carolina; his younger daughter Joyce Higgins and her husband, Peter, of Melbourne Beach, Florida; his four grandsons; Andrew Wolcott and his wife, Catherine Wolcott of Charlottsville, Virginia; Christopher Wolcott of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Matthew Higgins of Brooklyn, New York; Alex Higgins of Melbourne Beach, Florida; his brother Robert Troope and his wife, Irmgard Troope, of Athol, Massachusetts and his sister, Nancy and her husband, Robert, of West Harwich, Massachusetts. The family would like to thank Cornerstone Hospice for the care given to Walter over the last several months. Services will be held at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake Florida on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.. A Gathering will be from 1:00 Pm to 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

Golf course deserves a failing grade
