Water Oak residents deserve to feel safe in their homes

To the Editor:

High-tech license plate recognition is coming to gates in The Villages. Video cameras are already in place at the gate. But the license plate recognition software will be of great benefit to law enforcement. Under the current system, detectives  sit for hours, or even days, reviewing video when something has occurred, such as a crime or a missing person.“Time lost is critical,” said Lady Lake Police Chief McKinstry. “Recovery time, if someone goes missing, will definitely go down. A computer can do in seconds, what people will take hours to do.”
Sun Homes should place this system at the back gate at Water Oak to stop the escalated crime the community is having. The residents deserve to feel safe in their homes.
