Congressman Daniel Webster has announced that he will be running for the Congressional seat that represents The Villages in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Webster has opted to leave his current district for the more Republican friendly district which includes Sumter, Lake, Marion, Hernando and Citrus counties. The seat is currently held by Congressman Rich Nugent who has already said he won’t be running again.
Webster’s announcement means the veteran Congressman will be taking on former Nugent staffer Justin Grabelle, whose parents are residents of the Village of Amelia.
They will square off in the Republican primary set for Aug. 30.
On Jan. 28, Webster spoke to a group in The Villages about his possible candidacy. You can read that story HERE
A third possibility could  be the head of the Lake-Sumter State College Board. You can read about him HERE
David Koller has indicated he will run for the 11th District Congressional seat as a Democrat.
