Back home from Washington D.C., Congressman Daniel Webster is feeling good about his determination to stand his ground with regard to the GOP health care bill pulled Friday afternoon by Speaker Paul Ryan.
Webster was in the audience at the 31st annual Lincoln Day Dinner sponsored Saturday night by the Sumter County Republican Party at Savannah Center.
The GOP Congressman, who arrived back in the district Friday night, said he was pleased to see the speaker pull the bill when it was apparent it did not have the support needed to pass.
“It was not the right bill,” Webster said. “I could not have supported it.”
Echoing sentiments expressed by President Donald Trump, Webster said it will likely take the collapse of Obamacare to bring about the proper legislation.
Webster said he was happy to be back home and with friends, after a heated week of politics in Washington D.C.
