Webster woman ticketed in near miss with school bus

A Webster woman was ticketed following an accident at 8:17 a.m. Thursday on State Road 50.

Ramona G. Lujan-Rodriguez, 32, of Webster, was traveling westbound on SR-50 just east of Amelia Lane in Hernando County. She failed to see a stopped school bus with red lights and stop signs deployed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report. She took evasive action to avoid a collision with the bus and lost control of her vehicle.

Her vehicle did not collide with the bus, but entered a clockwise rotation and left the four-lane divided highway and traveled onto the grass shoulder.

Traveling approximately 40 feet onto the shoulder, her vehicle collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Earline Venessa Terry, 27, of Dade City, which was parked 40 feet off on the shoulder.  At the time of the collision Janassa Terry, 6, was exiting the vehicle to walk to the school bus. The child suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for medical care.

Lujan-Rodriguez was ticketed for a charge of careless driving, according to the FHP report.
