Where’s the compassion?

To the Editor:

How can we get more info on the situation on San Antonio Lane in the Village of Palo Alto? (See story HERE)  Shame on the person who filed the complaint and shame on The Villages for even considering fining this couple in this situation! I, and I’m certain others, would be willing to help clean up this yard. $250 for weed removal? It would have to be REALLY overgrown (didn’t look like it from the pic) to warrant that charge! Not sure what the palm frond complaint is – do they need to be removed? And $50/day for as long as it takes?! – come on, people – what are you going to do with that $? Many groups in the Villages are known to help others in need; what attempts were made to seek a resolution other than fining them? Where’s the compassion; these people would probably appreciate a break about now.
Every now and then, we should do the right thing; that could be us some day.
