White privilege here in ’The Bubble’

To the Editor:

I assume that nearly everyone who lives in The Villages enjoys the benefits of Medicare and effective supplemental coverage for a reasonable cost. The advantages of white privilege abound here in “The Bubble.” If you voted for Donald Trump, understand that you contributed to the stripping of health insurance for millions of folks who are not like you. They may have poor paying jobs, pre-existing conditions which before were uninsurable, and horrible catastrophic injuries or illnesses which have bled their families dry.
And now, we the American people, who have the lousiest health care coverage of any “wealthy” country, will allow the Congress to strip benefits without a plan.
As you enjoy your many activities here today, think about your privilege and why you aren’t screaming from the rooftops for your fellow Americans.
