Wife ditched at Spanish Springs restaurant, gets some good news in court case

A Village of Del Mar woman arrested in August after an alleged attack on her husband who ditched her at a Spanish Springs restaurant, won’t be prosecuted in the case.

On Tuesday, the prosecutor’s office announced no information will be filed in the case in Lake County Court.

Stephanie Marie Buckley, 50, had to walk to her home on Prado Drive on the night of Aug. 26 after her husband of four years left her at Gator’s Dockside when she went to the restroom, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

When Buckley arrived at home, she began arguing with her husband, threw items at him and slapped him several times. He then called 911.

When a police officer arrived, he found the home in disarray with broken glass, furniture and other items.

The man told the officer he had left the restaurant to go home for a swim. He said he had feared Buckley would use her firearm, so he took the firearm from where it was stored in the bedroom and put it in his pants until police arrived.

A joint stipulation filed in court earlier this month indicated Buckley could have “non-violent” contact with her husband. At the time of her arrest, a no victim contact order had been put in place.

In the announcement of no information, Assistant State Attorney Michael Taylor Tremel wrote, “The victim has substantially changed his testimony and requests no prosecution. In addition, there are no independent witnesses. Accordingly, the State cannot proceed.”
