A 31-year-old Wildwood man was arrested Tuesday night after an alleged altercation with a woman over the volume on their television.

Daniel Mendez-Reyes allegedly got into an argument with a woman at their residence on County Road 230C in Wildwood, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The woman then threw the television cord out the window. Mendez-Reyes responded by throwing her cell phone out the window. He then locked her out of the residence.

After she got back inside, she went into a bedroom with three children and began to put them to bed. Mendez-Reyes entered the room and turned on the light. When the woman tried to turn them back off, he allegedly pushed her. She called 911.

The woman’s 12-year-old son backed up his mother’s account of events.

Mendez-Reyes was arrested on a charge of battery. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,500 bond.
