A Wildwood man with a long criminal history was arrested after he allegedly stole a purse Wednesday afternoon from a car at a hair salon.

Tommy Lee Green Jr., 34, entered Hair & Nail Creations on Main Street in Wildwood and asked for a hair cut, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. When the stylist told him they were booked for the day, Green then asked for a job. When he was told they were not hiring, he went outside the building where he was soon spotted with the designer Coach handbag containing cash and credit cards.

As he was being held in a holding cell at the Wildwood Police Department, Green allegedly threatened the officers. He told one of the officers he wanted to shoot him and leave him for dead on the street. Green allegedly said he claps every time he sees officers killed in the line of duty.

Green was booked on felony charges of burglary, grand theft and assault on a law enforcement officer. Bond was set at $12,000.

Last year, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office issued a bulletin after Green was believed to have displayed a handgun at IHop on State Road 44 in Wildwood. You can read about that incident HERE

He was convicted on larceny charges in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
