A 65-year-old Wildwood man was arrested after allegedly binding up his wife with duct tape and rope during an argument at their home.

Harry Dean Beveridge is facing charges of domestic battery by strangulation and kidnap/false imprisonment following his arrest at 2:12 a.m. Friday at his home in the 800 block of Ontario Street.

The woman told police her husband had come home drunk and continued an earlier argument, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He pushed her to the ground and bound her with duct tape and rope, according to the arrest report. He also tried to strangle her. He then drank vodka and took her Xanax and passed out on the bed.

She crawled to the kitchen and used a pair of scissors to partially free herself. She was able to get to a neighbor’s house and asked for help.

Beveridge was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $7,500 bond.
