Wildwood truck driver airlifted from scene of crash that shut down traffic on I-75 in Sumter County

A Wildwood truck driver was airlifted from the scene of a crash that shut down traffic early Wednesday morning on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

Robert Givens, 60, had been at the wheel of the 2007 Mack 700 dump truck at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday northbound on I-75 at Mile Marker 324, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The dump bed had been raised and collided with the overpass at County Road 514.

Givens was seriously injured.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of I-75 and traffic was diverted at Exit 321. County Road 514 was also closed as inspectors were determining the structural integrity of the roadway.
