William ‘Bill’ Irvin

William “Bill” Irvin, 74, of The Villages, FL, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Bill was born in Indiana, PA to the late Joseph and Yvonne Irvin.

He graduated from Portage High School and went on to Slippery Rock University, in Pennsylvania graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, later receiving his Masters at Syracuse University in New York. He taught Science and Advance Placement Science and coached several sports in Montgomery County Maryland School System, retiring in June of 1995.

He and Pat moved to Florida in 1995 and settled in The Villages in 2003. Bill loved to golf, enjoyed all types of fishing, tennis, pickleball and softball. Bill was a plain spoken person and was a good judge of character. He loved animals, rescuing many grateful pets over his lifetime. He was an amazing husband and great father. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Gibson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Pat; children, Cheryl Gibson (Joseph Rivas), Lisa Creedon, Kimberly Irvin; daughter-in-law, Jody Gibson; grandchildren, Brittney, Brandon, Dylan, Jason, Jeremy, Andrew, Carson, joseph; brother, Edward Alan Irvin(Rita); sister-in-law, Jean Irvin and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Chaplin Patrick Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
