‘Wind River’ a tough tale set in snow-covered Wyoming

Jack Petro

It is an old-fashioned murder mystery, only this time it is located in the open spaces of snow-covered Wyoming.  Corey Lambert is portrayed by actor Jeremy Renner as the area wild life service game tracker. He helps balance the battle of prey and predator with his rifle and a telescopic sight.  He finds the frozen body of a young woman who has been physically assaulted.  The crime took place on federal land, so the FBI assigns a young female operative Natalie Hanson (Elizabeth Olsen) to head the investigation.

The pair has no romantic magnetism, there is little in the way of plot surprises but do expect to see blood and terror in the pursuit of justice. “Wind River” is not recommended for the faint of heart.  My best rating is a C grade. It is currently showing at the Rialto Theater in The Villages.
