A 25-year-old Wildwood woman is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault with a weapon after she allegedly repeatedly rammed a BMW during a 10-mile pursuit.

Ciara Janea Smith had been at the wheel of a white Ford Mustang at about midnight Saturday when the pursuit of the BMW began at Applebee’s on Bichara Boulevard in The Villages. Smith’s ex-boyfriend was reportedly riding as a passenger in the BMW.

When the woman who was driving the BMW, Smith’s ex-boyfriend and Smith spotted each other at Applebee’s, Smith became enraged and began to “tussle” with her ex-boyfriend, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

The woman and Smith’s ex-boyfriend left in the BMW and for 10 miles, Smith tailed them and would ram the back of the BMW at every stoplight.

When a Wildwood police officer arrived on the scene at 100 Woodlane Avenue, the Mustang and the BMW were “nose to nose,” the arrest report said.

Smith told the police officer she had let her “emotions get the best of her.”

She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
