A 37-year-old Fruitland Park woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal more than $400 in merchandise from Bealls in Leesburg.

Linsey Cook Adams entered the store on Citrus Boulevard on Wednesday and allegedly loaded a SaltLife shirt and shorts, Reel Legends shirts and shorts, New Balance socks and shoes, Crocs shoes, Under Armour swimwear and other items into a beach bag, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The merchandise had a total value of $435.41.

A loss prevention officer got suspicious when noticing filler material from a beach bag on the floor of a dressing room. Adams was outside the store with a beach bag when she was detained by the loss prevention officer.

Adams, who was arrested in 2015 at Publix at Grand Traverse Plaza in The Villages, was taken into custody on a charge of retail theft. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond.
