A 42-year-old Summerfield woman was arrested after she allegedly scratched and fought with a man who tried to stop her from driving a vehicle.

Diana Lynn Abshier was arrested Wednesday night by Marion County sheriff’s deputies on a charge of battery.

She had reportedly been drinking and the man wanted to prevent her from getting behind the wheel of a car, according to an arrest report. As they were struggling over the keys, Abshier allegedly threw a soft drink and sandwich at the man. She left the location before law enforcement arrived.

A juvenile backed up the man’s version of events.

Abshier was found at another residence. She told a deputy she had only consumed two glasses of wine.

She was booked at the Marion County Jail and was initially being held without bond.
