Woman arrested on DUI charge after vehicle swerves in front of police car

A 54-year-old Lady Lake woman was arrested on a drunk driving charge after her vehicle swerved in front of a police car and struck a median.

Deborah Louise Rawls of 307 W. Lakeview St. had been driving on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at Sunrise Road at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday when her vehicle swerved onto the median, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A nearby Lady Lake police officer spotted the erratic driving and pulled Rawls over. The officer suspected she had been drinking and asked her to perform field sobriety exercises which she failed. She refused to provide a breath sample. She also refused to sign a DUI citation. She was booked at the Lake County Jail.

She has also been charged with violating her probation on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
