A 39-year-old woman found to be in possession of Oxycodone was arrested Friday outside Publix at La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

A Lady Lake police officer spotted Joni Deann Shaw at about 2:30 p.m. outside the store on Bichara Boulevard. She appeared to be “in distress.”

She turned over a pocket knife she was carrying and was found to be in possession of four Oxycodone pills for which she did not appear to have a prescription.

She was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance and booked at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
