A woman had previously sought protection from a Properties of The Villages sales agent arrested over the weekend after a 911 call from a woman in Oxford Oaks.

William B. Barron, 36, is free on $6,000 bond following his arrest early Saturday morning on two counts of domestic battery.

A woman, not the one who placed the weekend 911 call, filed for an order of protection on Nov. 24, 2008 in Collier County Court. But when the request was to be heard before a judge on Dec. 4, 2008, both Barron and the woman were present in court and the woman said she wished to withdraw the petition, according to court records.

In this weekend’s arrest, Barron had reportedly invited a woman over to try to reconcile their relationship. But when he went through messages on her phone, he became enraged and grabbed her by the throat, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. She said she had been unable to breathe due to the pressure Barron applied to her neck. She was able to free herself from his grip and headed for her car. Barron reached into the car and again grabbed her by the throat and struck her in the face, the report said.

The officer who responded to the 911 call, found the woman in the 3000 block of Cichielo Court where she was sitting on the street curb and crying.  She said she had run to a friend’s house after the altercation at 3104 Carter Path. She asked for EMS and told the officer she wanted to press charges.

Barron denied any physical altercation had taken place. The officer noted that it smelled as if Barron had been drinking.

Sumter County court records indicate Barron has hired a private attorney to represent him in the case.
