A 44-year-old woman has been sentenced in connection with a drunk driving arrest this past March after an automobile accident in the Village of Pennecamp.

Melissa Rene Doucette on March 13 had apparently gotten mixed up and headed down Imperial Lane, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. When she realized her mistake, she put her black Hyundai Elantra into reverse and hit a rock and a small palm tree in the yard of a home on Imperial Lane. When the trooper arrived, Doucette’s vehicle was in a garden bed at the home, according to the FHP report.

When the trooper asked Doucette to step out of her vehicle, she had to lean against it to keep from falling down, the report noted. She failed field sobriety exercises and later provided breath samples that registered .143 and .145 blood alcohol content.

Last week in Sumter County Court, she entered a plea of no contest in the case. She was sentenced to one year of probation, will lose her driver’s license for six months and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
