A woman was transported by ambulance to Leesburg Regional Medical Center after an altercation over her cigarette smoking.
The woman had smoked two cigarettes during on outing at a bar with 38-year-old James Kyle Parsly of Wildwood. A verbal altercation over the fact she was supposed to be quitting smoking began at the bar and continued throughout the night.
When they returned home, they were involved in an altercation in which her arm made a loud “pop,” according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Parsly later told a deputy that he and the woman had been physically fighting over cash. During an interview at the hospital, the woman told the deputy he had pushed her, causing her arm to make a loud popping sound. The woman admitted she had previously stated they had been “playing around,” because she did not want to get Parsly into trouble.
Parsly was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $1,000 bond.
