A 53-year-old woman who had been using a pair of scissors to cut up a man’s wallet stopped only when a deputy threatened her with a taser.

Nancy Ann Simmons of Summerfield was arrested Monday on a charge of criminal mischief.

She was being treated by Marion County Fire Rescue at a home at SE 146th Place in Summerfield and filling out paperwork with a Marion County sheriff’s deputy with regard to an alleged earlier altercation. The man, with whom she had been involved in the earlier altercation, approached the residence. Simmons removed medical equipment being used to treat her and took a potted plant and threw it at a glass door where the man had tried to enter the residence, according to a incident report from the sheriff’s office. She told the man to get out of the house and took salt and poured it into his shoes, stating that she had paid for them. She then took the man’s wallet and tried to cut it in half, using a pair of scissors, the report indicated.

The deputy unlocked his taser and threatened to use it, unless she dropped the wallet. She complied and was taken into custody.

She was booked at the Marion County Jail.
